2024 Dilemma - Kapitel Zwei Wine

My first single grape variety wine was made with 100% organic Riesling and it’s called “Dilemma”. The grapes were handpicked by my father and brother on 20 September 2024 and they come from two different vineyards - Kapitel Zwei and Weingut Feldtheorie. The Kapitel Zwei grapes are from a small parcel of 35 year old vines a short walk from my vineyard that I rented for two years.

The fermentation was rather slow moving starting on 24 September followed by MLF which only finished in early December, not unusual for Riesling, but stressful nonetheless. The wine was aged in amphora on the gross lees until bottling.

If you have ever been to a blind tasting with me, I typically frown at the taste of a young, acidic Riesling, which inspired the vintage name "Dilemma", i.e. a difficult choice had to be made — do I make a wine with Riesling or not?

Both wines fall under the category of low intervention wine, meaning, Nature was the winemaker. Both wines are unfiltered, so they can be cloudy — the cloudiness comes from the lees. When you filter wine it can remove color and some flavors, which is why I chose not to. 

The wine is bottled in 500ml brown glass bottles. It will be extremely limited to 95 bottles. Each bottle will be individually hand stamped with its serial number.
