In 2024 I will have my first single grape variety wine, 100% Riesling.
The organic Riesling grapes come from two different vineyards - Kapitel Zwei Wine in Kremsleithen and just a few short kilometers away from Feldtheorie in the Kamptal. The Kremsleithen grapes are from a small parcel 100 meters from my vineyard that I rented for two years.
The grapes were handpicked by my father and brother on 20 September 2024 (the photo is my brother holding a Riesling cluster). The fermentation was rather slow moving starting on 24 September followed by malolatic fermentation which only finished round December. The wine is now aging in amphora on the gross lees until the end of 2025
If you have ever been to a blind tasting with me, I typically frown at the taste of a young, acidic Riesling, which inspired the vintage name "Dilemma", i.e. a difficult choice had to be made -- do I make a wine with Riesling or not.
The wine is bottled in 500ml brown glass bottles. It will be extremely limited to less than 105 bottles. Each bottle will be individually hand stamped with its serial number.
